Specifically, website compliance must be assessed against the criteria indicated in Chapters 9 “Web” and 10 “Non-web content,” which refer to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level A+AA.

he four fundamental principles of digital accessibility, expressed by WCAG 2.1, are:

Perceivable – Content is presented clearly and understandably

Operable – The interface is easily navigable by all users.

Understandable – Information and operations are intuitive and easy to interpret.

Robust – The site is compatible with the most common assistive technologies.

Based on the aforementioned UNI EN 301549 standard, which clearly lists the 50 success  criteria to consider when verifying website accessibility, technical analyses have been carried  out on the website content, which includes both textual and non-textual information,  downloadable documents and forms, and forms of two-way interaction, such as processing  digital forms and completing authentication, identification, and payment processes.

4. Meeting accessibility requirements

To improve accessibility and user experience, Procaffè S.p.A. has integrated the UserWay PRO accessibility widget into the website subject to this statement. Its use by website users is completely free of charge and allows the site to improve compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1).

UserWay PRO offers multiple features to enhance website accessibility and user experience, through a dedicated panel accessible by clicking on the widget icon or via the CTRL+U keyboard shortcut, as listed below.

Screen Reader: reads aloud all page content without the need to install an external  reader.

Dictionary: allows access to dictionary consultation without leaving the website.  Essential for users with cognitive disabilities, non-native English speakers, and  others.

Bigger Text: allows increasing text size on screen with four different levels, making  every part of the site immediately more readable.

Saturation: adjusts color intensity of a site to high, low, or grayscale.

Contrast:  inverts website colors or allows switching between light and dark contrast  modes.

Smart Contrast: ensures that all site colors fully comply with ADA standards,  guaranteeing greater content visibility.

Highlight Links: emphasizes links, buttons, and other interactive clickable elements  with high-contrast bright colors, making them easier to identify and improving  usability, navigation, and overall accessibility.

Stop Animations: pauses content that moves or updates automatically, considered a barrier to accessibility. It stops animations and flashing content that distract or may  trigger epileptic seizures in at-risk individuals.

Text Spacing: adjusts text and line spacing to improve readability for dyslexic and  visually impaired users, offering three levels of customization for a more accessible  reading experience.

Line Height:  increases line height to ensure more comfortable spacing throughout  the site text.

Text Alignment: aligns site text left, right, or center for a more personalized and  accessible reading experience.

Dyslexia Font: the “UserWay Dyslexia Friendly” font improves readability and  provides a smoother reading experience for visitors with dyslexia.

Big Cursor: increases the standard cursor size by 400%, ensuring the pointer is  always visible. Allows faster, more accessible navigation through hyperlinks, tabs,  and form elements.

Tooltips: displays alternative text and ARIA labels for on-screen elements with a  simple mouse hover. Tooltips are highly visible, high-contrast, and easy to read for  visually impaired users with accessibility needs.

Page Structure: quickly reveals page titles, landmarks, and links in a clear,  structured, easily navigable, and accessible way. Helps both disabled and non disabled users to find desired content more quickly.

In addition to the features users can activate from the accessibility menu, the UserWay PRO  widget can detect numerous site non-conformities and make necessary corrections in real  time, without modifying the source code but only what the browser displays on screen. This  allows the website to be more accessible for all end users, including those using assistive  technologies.

The accessibility of web content for users relying on assistive technologies, such as screen  readers, alternative keyboards, or voice commands, is further supported by ARIA attributes,  which describe the role, state, and properties of user interface elements, communicate  dynamic interactions (e.g., expandable menus, modals, sliders) to screen readers, and  support keyboard navigation in complex components.
